Foundation Matters: February 2024

First-in-World Saskatchewan-led Clinical Trial

Saskatchewan has launched a first-ever clinical trial, focused on substantially improving the quality of life for ovarian cancer patients.

The trial has been made possible with a Next Generation Sequencer, a new piece of equipment purchased in honour of Donald E Kramer, founder of Kramer Tractor, through a very significant generational donation by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

This Next Generation Sequencer is the first in Saskatchewan for direct patient care, and it is the first Sequencer in Canada to perform tumor testing for clinical decision-making in gynecologic cancers.

We are so very grateful to the Kramer family!

You Did It!

This fall, you were invited to help ensure that Saskatchewan patients benefit from the best in personalized medicine. And wow – you answered the call!

Your gifts totaled over $124,000 in support of Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, the most promising treatment for blood cancers.

But that’s not all!

Thanks to an anonymous friend of the Foundation, your donations were matched resulting in $248,000 for CAR T-cell therapy.

Thank you for supporting innovative immunotherapy in Saskatchewan!
