Howard and Constance Crofts’ Story

Howard Crofts’ commitment to advancing cancer care is rooted in a deeply personal journey – one that began with his beloved son, Ryan. At just four, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. After years of treatment, he reached remission in the spring of 1981. To celebrate, Howard took the family to Disneyland for a trip filled with magic, laughter, and hope.

Once home, doctors discovered the cancer had returned. Despite his courage and the care of his Saskatchewan Cancer Agency medical team, Ryan passed away on December 3, 1981, at seven years old. His memory remains forever woven into Howard’s life.

Howard went on to build a rewarding career through professional excellence, a deep commitment to service, and leadership on numerous non-profit, corporate, and regulatory boards. He credits the support and loyalty of the Saskatchewan people for his success.

Howard and his wife Constance recognized they had the opportunity to make a meaningful legacy gift to honor Ryan’s memory. Together, they chose to donate one of Howard’s life insurance policies to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.

While this gift can’t bring Ryan back, Howard hopes it will encourage others to look at their own philanthropy in a different light – and inspire generosity to build a brighter future.
